Day 9
 - A song that you can fall asleep to:
Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again [Emily Rossum from The Phantom of the Opera]

I will be posting two songs today because I got behind on this. I picked this song because it is beautiful and it calms me, for some reason.

Day 9
 - A song that you can dance to
Sexy And I Know It [LMFAO]

I am an entire day behind on this, but only because I could not decide at all what songs to choose for the next two categories. I can dance to a lot of songs. So which do I choose? This one. It is a random selection. But it is what I went with. I like LMFAO. They are pretty awesome.

Day 8
 - A song that you know all the words to

“The Metro” [Berlin]

This is one of my favorite songs of ALL TIME! I can remember listening to this over and over again with my cousin, Sharon. This was before you could look up lyrics on the internet, so we got a pen and some paper and meticulously wrote down every word. After that, we studied the lyrics, like you would poetry. We were pretty deep, even at a young age. I will never forget the words to this song. To this day, whenever I think of this song, I remember my cousin. Love you cuz!!!

Day 7
 - A song that reminds you of a certain event

“So Long, Farewell” [Christopher Plummer, Julie Andrews and Children]

Every time I think of this song, I think of going to The Sound of Music Sing-A-Long with my friends, Bobbie and Tina. Tina and I would sing the “Cuckoo, cuckoo…” while Bobbie belted like it was opera. I remember the people in front of us not singing along and being annoyed when we did and then getting up to move. Then, Tina shouted “It’s a sing-a-long!” LOL! Good times!

Day 6
 - A song that reminds you of somewhere

“Bring Him Home” [Colm Wilkinson, from Les Miserables]

This song reminds me of London. I will never forget watching Les Miserables at the Palace Theatre in the West End. I walked out with tears in my eyes. Being there and watching that show was such an emotional experience because it was something I never thought I would ever be able to experience. Sitting in that theater in a private box (that we chatted our way into) was a moment where I had to pinch myself to make sure it was really happening. Since then, the show has moved to The Queen’s Theatre. It is London’s longest running musical (23 years). When I hear this song, I am instantly taken back to where I lived in London for study abroad and all the amazing times I had there.

On a side note, this is also one of my favorite numbers from a musical. It is beautiful. I hope to be able to sing this in Intermediate Voice class this coming Spring semester.  :)

Day 5 - A song that reminds you of someone
“Sweetheart” [Mariah Carey/Jermaine Dupri]

This song will actually forever remind me of two people. I am taken back to a time when gas was like half the price it is now and driving all around town with my bff (Bobbie) and my cousin (Sharon) and never forgetting to say “I agree!” LOL!!! We had so much fun!!!

DAY 4 -
A song that makes you sad:
“Dreaming of You” [Selena]

I waited until just before midnight to post this because this song is the perfect way to usher in Valentine’s Day, especially if there is someone out there who keeps you dreaming.

Whenever I hear this beautiful song, I remember the beautiful person singing it and her tragic end. I can’t watch this scene in the movie without getting teary eyed. Imagine how different things would be if she were still alive? Maybe she would be a judge on American Idol? No disrespect to JLo (who I love). It makes you think, though.

A song that makes you happy:
“Happy Working Song” [performed by Amy Adams, composed by Alan Menken for Disney’s Enchanted]

This song makes me smile so much. Thank you to Amy Adams for being one of the best princesses ever!

DAY 2 -
Your least favorite song
“The Kill (Bury Me)” [30 Seconds To Mars]

I have a LOVE-HATE relationship with this song. I actually like the song and think Jared Leto has an amazing voice and the song is very catchy. The song’s dark message also appeals to me. However, I went through a very painful breakup in 2010 and days before he left me (for someone else) I was begging him to talk about it with me because our communication had just gone to shit. Before he left for work, he brought this song up on the computer and told me to listen to it because it described exactly how he felt. He had a hard time talking about feelings and he often played songs for me to show me how he felt. So, he left, and I sat there listening to this song over and over again. I looked up the lyrics. I read them while I listened. I analyzed and beat my brain up trying to figure out what he was trying to tell me when it was evidently completely obvious based on what the lyrics are. After that day, I have been unable to hear this song without cringing. It reminds me of that day and what I lost. Someday, I hope to be able to appreciate this song again. Until then… it is definitely one of my least favorite songs to hear.

The Kill - 30 Seconds To Mars
(The Lyrics Are In The Bottom)

What if I wanted to break
Laugh it all off in your face
What would you do? (Oh, oh)
What if I fell to the floor
Couldn’t take all this anymore
What would you do, do, do?

Come break me down
Bury me, bury me
I am finished with you

What if I wanted to fight
Beg for the rest of my life
What would you do?
You say you wanted more
What are you waiting for?
I’m not running from you (from you)

Come break me down
Bury me, bury me
I am finished with you
Look in my eyes
You’re killing me, killing me
All I wanted was you

I tried to be someone else
But nothing seemed to change
I know now, this is who I really am inside.
Finally found myself
Fighting for a chance.
I know now, this is who I really am.

Ah, ah
Oh, oh
Ah, ah

Come break me down
Bury me, bury me
I am finished with you, you, you.
Look in my eyes
You’re killing me, killing me
All I wanted was you

Come break me down (bury me, bury me)
Break me down (bury me, bury me)
Break me down (bury me, bury me)

(You say you wanted more)
What if I wanted to break…?
(What are you waiting for?)
Bury me, bury me
(I’m not running from you)
What if I
What if I
What if I
What if I
Bury me, bury me
